Trump Slams Biden’s “Terrible” Oval Office Address on 2024 Race Exit
Former President Donald Trump has strongly criticized President Joe Biden’s recent Oval Office address, calling it “terrible” and suggesting that Biden’s exit from the 2024 presidential race was orchestrated by Democratic party leaders.
In an appearance on “Fox & Friends” on Thursday, Trump expressed his views on Biden’s speech, stating that it raised more questions than it answered. He claimed that Biden appeared to be in poor shape and had performed poorly in debates, which he believed contributed to the decision to end his re-election campaign.
Trump went as far as to describe the situation as a “coup,” alleging that prominent Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama had forced Biden out of the race due to his low poll numbers. He argued that the party did not want Biden to run for re-election.
Biden’s Oval Office address, which lasted approximately 11 minutes, was his first public statement since announcing his decision to withdraw from the 2024 race on Sunday. During the speech, Biden spoke about passing the torch to a new generation and reiterated his support for Vice President Kamala Harris in her bid for the Democratic nomination.
The president’s family, including First Lady Jill Biden, daughter Ashley Biden, and son Hunter Biden, were present for the address. Biden used the opportunity to highlight his years of political service and explain his decision to step aside.
Trump was particularly critical of Biden’s delivery, stating, “It was like a terrible speech and terrible delivery. He looked like he was having problems, and yet you watch the other networks and you would think he was Ronald Reagan in his prime, Winston Churchill in his prime, and he wasn’t. It was not good… It was not a good speech.”
Biden’s exit from the presidential race was initially announced in an X post while he was self-isolating in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, following a COVID-19 diagnosis. He returned to the White House on Tuesday after receiving a negative test result, marking his first public appearance since suspending his re-election bid.
Regarding Vice President Harris, Trump speculated on her potential as the Democratic nominee, saying, “I knew there was a palace coup going on, and I assumed that she’d be probably getting it. She had the advantage.”
